Creativity Unwrapped: Schools Challenge
As part of this year’s Heritage Open Days ‘Creativity Unwrapped’ theme, we challenged Blackpool primary schools to create a brand new Blackpool building. We asked students to construct their building using recycled materials and to think about the look, design and purpose. This formed part of a classroom resource pack we created to celebrate Heritage Open Days in Blackpool schools.
What did the students learn?
From the resource pack, students were given the opportunity to learn about some of Blackpool’s local historic buildings, what they are used for and why they are an important part of Blackpool past and present. To keep resources to a minimum and to be as green as possible, we asked the buildings to be created out of recycled materials.
We’d like to thank the primary schools that took part, including; St Kentigern’s Catholic Primary School, St John’s C of E Primary School and Hawes side Academy.
Opportunity to VOTE
The children's fabulous creations are now on display at Blackpool Central Library until Tuesday 26 September. If you are visiting the library, please take the time to look at their work and vote for your favourite using the ballot papers and box provided.
