How to find the History Centre

Directions from town

On foot, from the town centre

From North Pier, continue northerly along the promenade and turn right into Queen Square, continue forward to the junction with Abingdon Street. Central Library is situated on the corner of Queen Street and Abingdon Street.

We are just 5-8 minutes walk away from North Pier, the Winter Gardens and Blackpool Tower.

Directions from motorway

Travelling by car

Follow the M55 to the end then take the second exit at the roundabout onto Yeadon Way. Follow the brown tourist signs for Blackpool town centre. If using sat nav our postcode is FY1 1PX.


Car parking

Talbot Road Car Park - multi storey car park situated on Deansgate. Use sat nav FY1 3AU. This car park is approx. 6 minutes walk from Showtown History Centre. Pay on return, charges apply.

Queen Street Car Park – open space, ground level car park situated on Queen Street. Use sat nav FY1 1PX. This car park is just a 2 minute walk from Showtown History Centre. Pay and display, charges apply.

Disabled parking

There is parking available for disabled badge holders on Queen Street.

Public Transport

Travelling by train

There are two train stations in Blackpool. Blackpool North Station and Blackpool South Station. Blackpool North is closest to us with only a 5 minute walk from the station.

Travelling by bus

Local Blackpool Transport bus services stop outside Central Library on Queen Street - including the number 12, 18 and 20 bus routes.

Travelling by tram

Catch a tram from any stop along the promenade, alighting at North Pier. On foot, continue northerly along the promenade and turn right into Queen Square, continue forward to the junction with Abingdon Street. Central Library is situated on the corner of Queen Street and Abingdon Street.
